Last Wednesday night, February 27th, Mayen Promotions presented another night of exciting local boxing in Tijuana, Mexico, a city where promoter Guillermo Mayen has really dropped anchor in his commitment to transforming the fighting hotbed into the most important city for boxing in the country. Named as “Reyes and Reinas (Kings and Queens)”, the fight card featured a number of local popular fighters including the woman which has been tagged to take over the baton from hometown favorite Jackie “Aztec Princess” Nava in becoming the next female star out of the border city. Nineteen year old flyweight Kenia Enriquez (5-0, 2KOs) remained undefeated as she cruised to an easy unanimous decision over much more experienced Blanca Raymundo (1-8) of the Inland Empire of California.

Enriquez fought intelligently as she used précised punching to land the clearer harder punches and demonstrated excellent lateral movement to control the game Raymundo. Raymundo tried to make it into a brawl but fell to the more talented Tijuana fighter.

In the semi-main event, super featherweight Daniel Nava (5-0-1, 3KOs), cousin of the aforementioned Jackie Nava, met the canvas in the second round only to take over the action and stop Cristian Barajas (4-3-1, 3KOs) seconds later of the same round. After beating the count, Nava was able to land a left hook that sent Barajas stumbling back to the ropes where Nava was able to land a barrage of unanswered punches that forced referee Juan Jose Ramirez to stop the action at the 2:48 mark of the second round, scheduled for four.
