WBO #1 super featherweight Vicente “Chente” Escobedo (26-3, 15 KOs) pounded out a ten round unanimous decision over Juan Ruiz (23-10, 7 KOs) on Saturday night at the Woodland Community Center in Woodland, California. Game effort by Ruiz who crowded Escobedo and made him fight every second of every round for the first half of the fight. Escobedo rocked Ruiz with some big shots in round six and was increasingly dominant after that. Scores were 100-90, 100-90, 99-91.
Escobedo’s NABO belt was not at stake as the 2004 United States Olympian extended his current winning streak to four and kept his title hopes alive for a summer clash against WBO junior lightweight world champion Adrien “The Problem” Broner.
Middleweight Oscar Gudoy (5-2, 2 KOs) was victorious when his bout with Jaime Del Cid (8-7, 3 KOs) was waved off at the end of round two.
Other results:
Denis Madriz (125) TKO-4 over Luis Villagomez (128)
Ulises Soriano (134) draw-4 Gabriel Pineda (136)
Moris Rodriguez (143) KO-2 over Brett De La Torre (141)
