Mendez stops Livingston

In a clash of middleweight prospects, Paul “El Gallo Negro” Mendez (10-2-1, 4 KOs) scored a controversial seventh round KO over Donyil Livingston (8-2-1, 4 KOs) on Saturday night at the Woodland Community Center in Woodland, California. Television replays showed the KO shot was below the belt, nevertheless after some postfight confusion it goes into the books as a knockout win for Mendez. Time was :2:37.

In the co-feature, unbeaten hometown favorite Manuel “Tino” Avila (10-0, 3 KOs) won an eight round unanimous decision over veteran Jhon Molina (30-20-2, 19 KOs) in a featherweight matchup. All three cards were 79-73.
