Sanchez beats Perez again to retain WBA female bantamweight crown

WBA female bantamweight champion Irma “Torbellino” Garcia (7-0-1, 1 KO) retained her title by split decision in a rematch with former champ Janeth Perez (17-2-2, 4 KOs) on Saturday night at the El Chamizal Sport Center in Zamora, Michoacan, Mexico. Scores were 96-94, 97-93 for Sanchez, 96-94 for Perez.

Super lightweight Ricardo “Dinamita” Alvarez (20-2-3, 13 KOs) scored a second round KO over over Carlos Valdez (12-6, 9 KOs) to defend his WBC Latino belt. Alvarez floored Valdez twice in round two, the second time for the count. Alvarez is the older brother of WBC super welterweight world champion Canelo Alvarez.

WBA interim minimumweight champion Jesus Silvestre (27-3, 19 KOs) scored a sixth round TKO Luis Carlos Leon (15-7-1, 11 KOs) in a non-title jr flyweight bout. The bout was waved off with Silvestre pounding Leon.

Unbeaten middleweight Bruno Sandoval (13-0, 12 KOs) scored a first round TKO over Isaac Mendez (16-10, 15 KOs).
