Reveco stops Torres in 5

Juan Carlos Reveco (24-1, 14 KOs) of Argentina retained his WBA World light flyweight interim title against Armando Torres (13-6, 8 KOs) by way of fifth round TKO. Reveco who dominated the bout from the beginning with his superior handspeeed and power dropped Torres with a straight right hand in the third round. Torres was OK and beat the count easily. However, in round five a brutal overhand right sent Torres crashing hard to the canvas. Torres amazingly beat the count and continued on. Reveco jumped on a visibly and still shaken Torres with a barrage of punches that prompted his corner to throw in the towel. The referee acknowledging the towel had been thrown in stopped the bout at 2:28 of round five. The bout took place at the Polideportivo Vicente Polimeni in Las Heras, Mendoza, Argentina. Osvaldo Rivero promoted.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
