Reyes stops Borg to capture IBO Youth title

In a upset, Filipino lightweight Joebert Delos Reyes (12-4-1, 8KOs) stopped Valentine Borg (6-1, 4KOs) in round five o f a scheduled ten round bout to capture the IBO Youth title at the Punchbowl Club, Punchbowl, NSW, Australia on Friday. The referee, Brad Griffiths, crowned Reyes at 2.33. A former amateur star Borg was in control of the bout in the early rounds until Reyes forced the stoppage in round four. Reyes has lost to Australian’s Greg Eadie, Terry Tzouramanis and Andrew Wallace in 2012 contests.

Sydney based middleweight Kurt Bahram (13-4-1, 5KOs) outscored Australian based Filipino, Joel Dela Cruz(17-19-2, 7KOs) over eight rounds to capture the New South Wales (State) title.

Former Australian champion Davey Brown (18-1, 6KOs) stopped John Min (7-5) in round one of a scheduled four in a lightweight contest. Referee raised Browne’s hand at 1.59. Browne’s only loss was to IBF world champion Billy Dib.

Light middleweight Daniel Durham (2-3, 1KO) stopped Sam Mawson (4-2, 2KOs) in round two of a scheduled four. Referee crowned Durham at 0.58.

Lightweight Brendan “The Machine” Saunders(2-0) outscored Cameron Glass (2-1, 1KO) over six rounds in a closely contested bout.

Lightweight Nathan Wright(3-0, 1KO) outscored Michael Correa(3-10-3, 1KO) over six rounds. Wright had previously defeated Correa in 2013.

Middleweight Daniel Barber {1-0, 1KO) scored a third round knockout over Jesse Ravudi(2-1) of a scheduled four.. Referee crowned Barber at 2.33.

Chinese super middleweight Zhang Yong (2-4-1, 1KO) and Indonesian Aswin Cabuy (14-46-3) boxed a draw over four rounds

Unbeaten super middleweight James Beard (5-0, 5KOs) stopped veteran Walter Pupu’a (12-28, 8KOs) in round two of a scheduled four..Referee called it off at 1.56.
