Ricky Hatton going down under

Former world champion Ricky Hatton will be ringside in Sydney, Australia on Friday to attend Grange Gym Christmas Charity boxing promotion featuring Peter Mitrevski Jr (20-6-1, 9 KOs) vs Opeti Tagi (13-5, 6 KOs) with the IBF Pan Pacific super middleweight title up for grabs at the University of NSW, Sydney, NSW, Australia and also have a discussion to feature Australian boxers in bouts in the United Kingdom and also Macau. Hatton said, “I’ve always wanted to travel down under and when I was given the opportunity to make the trip knowing it may benefit sick kids I could not say yes quick enough.”

The Hitman will be travelling with CEO of Hatton Promotions Gareth Williams who stated “Australia has produced some great fighters over the years, this will be the perfect occassion for us to view the local lads and discuss with the Grange Gym, the possibility of getting more fights for Aussie boxers in the United Kingdom and Macau.”

Also appearing on the undercard will be former world IBF 130 pound champion Gary St Clair (41-10-2, 18 KOs), former world rated Ranee Ganoy (28-11-2, 24 KOs), former Australian welterweight champion Mathew Paulley (19-5-5, 7 KOs), Australian featherweight champion Joel Brunker (11-0, 6 KOs) and former amateur world cup silver medalist Dilshond Miuhmdov (1-0).

Promoter Bill Treacy said, “We are very happy that Ricky Hatton and Gareth Williams have given there time to help with the benefit for sick kids. I am also looking forward to meeting this great champion to discuss fights in England and Macau.”
