Rios-Rodela Preview

Unbeaten super featherweight Ronny Rios will fight David Rodela in a scheduled 10 round bout at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio on Saturday night. Also on the card will be former world lightweight champion Julio Diaz fighting hard-hitting Colombian Henry Aurad in a scheduled 10 round welterweight bout.

Both fights will be headline a “Solo Boxeo” card and will be broadcast on Telefutura. announced the card in a “Southern California Fight Scene” article that came out on Friday.

Rios (18-0, 8 KOs) is coming off of a one-sided eight round unanimous decision victory over Guillermo Sanchez in his last fight on April 8th. He is promoted by Golden Boy Promotions and managed by Frank Espinoza.

Rodela (16-6-3, 5 KOs) hails from Oxnard and hopes to rebound from his second round knockout at the hands of Terence Crawford in Las Vegas last month. Prior to that bout, Rodela knocked out Baudel Cardenas in the second round in Port Hueneme, CA on February 25th.

Diaz (38-7, 27 KOs) hails from nearby Coachella and will be fighting for the first time in over a year. In that bout on May 13th of last year, Diaz was knocked out by Kendall Holt. Prior to his against Holt, Diaz won two decision victories over Herman Ngoujou and Pavel Miranda.

Aurad (14-4-1, 11 KOs), who now fights out of Miami, FL, has won two of his last three bouts.

Golden Boy Promotions, which is promoting the card, will announce more preliminary bouts.

Tickets will be priced at $45, $35, and $25 and could be purchased at the Fantasy Springs Resort Casino box office or by calling (800) 827-2946.

Doors open to the venue at 6PM, with first bell scheduled for 7PM local time. Telefutura will begin broadcasting the card at 11PM ET/PT.
