World-ranked super featherweight Alejandro ‘El Alacran’ Perez of Salinas, California, puts his WBO #5 rating on the line when he takes on Edgar Riovalle of Mexico City at Hollywood Park Casino, 3883 West Century Blvd., on Saturday, July 13. Top Rank, in association with Bash Boxing and Art of Boxing Promotions, will present the Solo Boxeo Tecate boxing card, which will be aired on UniMas.
Perez said, “I’m hungry, I can tell you that. I live off this sport. This is my life. Whatever I have to do to be on top, I will do. There are boxing fans who want to see a fight and that’s what they will see when I am in the ring.”
Perez is coming off his one of his career-best wins, a decision over previously unbeaten Art Hovhannisyan to win the vacant NABO 130-pound title.
Perez, born in Jacona, Michoacan, Mexico, has a record of 17-3-1, 11 KOs. He says his ‘El Alacran’ nickname is the “Mexican version of a scorpion.” Riovalle’s record is 35-14-2, 25 KOs. He is 8-2-1, 7 KOs in his last 11 bouts.
The main event on Saturday night is set for 10 rounds.
