Top trainer Freddie Roach is putting a $1,000 bet on a Manny Pacquiao knockout victory in the first, ninth and tenth rounds, in his Nov. 14 duel with Miguel Cotto at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. “I want to make some money,” Roach told a handful of Manila-based scribes after presiding over Pacquiao’s workout Tuesday afternoon at the Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood. “I’m putting $1,000 each on a first round KO win and putting the same money as well for a KO victory in the ninth and tenth rounds.” Roach has been pretty accurate in his predictions lately after steering Pacquiao to a second-round stoppage over Ricky Hatton last May and leading the Filipino to a ninth-round TKO of Oscar De La Hoya late last year. Prior to Pacquiao’s dismantling of the Golden Boy, Roach was right on the money in making a ninth-round KO forecast against David Diaz in June 2008. Pacquiao is the heavy favorite going into the scheduled 12-round WBO welter title match before an expected sellout crowd.
