In an amazing eleven month stretch between December 2008 and November 2009, Manny Pacquiao cemented his legend as one of boxing’s greats with consecutive KO wins over Oscar de la Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto. However, since then the “Pacman” has registered four consecutive decision wins. We asked Pacquiao’s trainer Freddie Roach how today’s 33-year-old version of Manny compares to the fighter who was knocking out the division’s best three years ago.
“I believe he’s a better fighter now,” said Roach. “He’s more focused, if the knockout comes it’ll be a bonus, but obviously Bradley’s a tough guy, he’s undefeated, he’ll be a little bit resilient, but I think you’re going to see the best Manny Pacquiao yet.”
Manny himself wasn’t making any promises. “I’m just doing my best in training,” he said. “I’m working hard to give a good fight.”
