Former IBF junior lightweight champion Robert ‘Grandpa’ Garcia is hosting the first annual fundraiser at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy on Sunday, October 17, 2010 and will be joined by 3-time world champion Antonio ‘Tijuana Tornado’ Margarito, current WBC middleweight champion Sergio ‘Maravilla’ Martinez, WBA #1 lightweight contender ‘Bam Bam’ Brandon Rios, IBF # 1 featherweight contender Miguel ‘Mikey’ Garcia, as well as many other fighters.
The Robert Garcia Boxing Academy is located at 1661 Pacific Ave in Oxnard, CA. The event will begin at 12:00 noon. The event will include an amateur boxing exhibition, a car show, food, music, a 50/50 raffle, an autograph signing session, as well as many other activities. Some of the items being raffled include an Oscar De La Hoya autographed poster, autographed boxing gloves, and much more. HBO’s Emmy Award winning series ’24/7′ will also be there filming. The proceeds from this event will help fund annual travel and lodging expenses for the amateur boxers that train daily at the Robert Garcia Boxing Academy and will also help expand other youth activities.
