When WBO super middleweight champion Robert Stieglitz steps into the ring on April 9th at the Bördelandhalle against WBA champion Dimitri Sartison, he must rely on his fast feet and hands. At the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben he experienced a different type of speed. He took a seat in a BMW Z4 GT3 of Schubert Motors and was driven around the track by the arena driving instructor Patrick Bernhardt. He showed Stieglitz how to drive fast laps in racing speed. Afterwards the SES world champion changed into the driver seat and drove one lap on the track. An unforgetable experience for Stieglitz.
With a bright grin, the 29-year-old stepped out of the race car though he certainly wanted to have a few more fast laps on the 3.6 km race track: “I would have loved to have a few more laps but it’s quite hard to control such a powerful race car so I can totally understand it that it was better for the car and myself not to be ‘unleashed,’” Stieglitz smiled.
