Bantamweight Sebastian Daniel Rodriguez (12-1, 5 KOs) of Argentina spectacuarly knocked out Manuel Herrera (16-7-2, 6 KOs) of Colombia in the fourth round of a WBC Latino bantamweight title fight on Saturday night at the Polideportivo Troncos del Talar, El Talar de Pacheco in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It looked like Rodriguez would finish Herrera off in a matter of seconds as he hurt Herrera with the first punch he threw which was a left hook. Rodriguez had Herrera pinned against the ropes and a few moments later unloaded with a series of unanswered punches but Herrera weathered the storm. Rounds two and three were relatively tame in comparison to round one. In round four, Rodriguez came out looking for the knockout and found it when again he trapped Herrera against the ropes and landed a series of 1-2 powershots that sent Herrera crashing to the mat where he was counted out. The card was promoted by Osvaldo Rivero.
Erica Anabella Farias of Argentina (8-0, 4 KOs) upset champion Darys Esther Pardo (22-8-3, 17 KOs) of Colombia by way of a 8th round TKO to win the interim WBC female lightweight title. Pardo dominated the fight all the way with precise power combinations. Aside from the pounding she received from Farias all night long Pardo had to deal with a cut and swelling over her left eye. Farias dropped Pardo in round 5 but could not follow up as the bell rang ending the round. In round 8 a brutal overhand right by Farias sent Pardo face first hard to the canvas. Pardo amazingly beat the count but the referee wisely stopped the bout as she was on very unsteady legs.
