Rojas steps in for O Chavez

Unbeaten welterweight Omar “Businessman” Chavez (21-0-1, 15 KOs), who was scheduled to headline the May 1 “Top Rank Live” card in Culiacan, Mexico, has suffered an injury and his next bout will now be rescheduled. The Fox Sports Espanol telecast will now take place in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico, with a main event featuring former WBC interim super flyweight champion Tomas Rojas (32-11, 22 KOs) against Jean Piero Perez (14-3-1, 10 KOs) in a ten rounder. Rojas is returning from a December 2009 world championship loss to Vic Darchinyan. The co-feature is a WBC super lightweight Youth championship ten-rounder between Jose Pinzon (16-0-1, 10 KOs) and Jaime ‘El Indio’ Barboza (14-3, 5 KOs).
