Manuel Rose (4-0) of San Leandro posted a six-round unanimous decision over Moris Rodriquez (4-3-1) of Chico in their junior-welterweight main event Saturday night at the Red Lion Woodlake Hotel in Sacramento. The card — Roseville’s Placer County Fairgrounds being the other — was one of two neighboring shows featuring largely Northern California preliminary-level prospects.
Other Red Lion results: Rod Hernandez UD-4 over Kevin Howard, heavyweights; Edward Ramirez TKO-1 over Ojayland Brown, heavyweights; Ryan Bourland TKO-2 over Albert Avina, cruiserweights; Christian Navarro MD-4 over Mario Ayala, bantamweights. Unbeaten lightweight Max Becerra of Vacaville, advertised for a highlight bout, was left idle, according to promoter Nasser Niavaroni, because when his scheduled opponent missed the weigh-in and no substitute could be found.
In Roseville, it was Aaron Coley (8-0) of Hayward TKO-3 over Mike Alexander (2-9-3) of Antioch in the main event, junior-middleweights; LaRon Mitchell KO-1 over Blue DeLong, heavyweights; Alberto Torres TKO-3 over Percy Peterson, junior-lightweights; Aldwayne Simpson UD-4 over Luis Lugo, junior-welterweights; Miguel Lopez majority draw-4 with Luis Cruz, junior-middleweights; John Abella TKO-4 over Christian Cartier, featherweights.
