Przemek Garczarczyk from Warszawa (Poland)
Roy Jones Jr (55-8, 40 KOs) proved again, that he’s not only a legendary fighter but also a great showman. During the face-to-face between four-time heavyweight contender Jameel McCline (41-11, 24 KOs) and Poland’s unbeaten Artur Szpilka (11-0, 9 KOs) at Warsaw’s Champions Sports Restaurant, there was a visible tension between the fighters. But Roy saved the day jumping between both big man and decided to resolve the situation with humor. “It was very close, you could tell that Szpilka wanted to provoke McCline, so I decided that there’s not enough people in this place to let those guys fight right now. Not waiting for their big time Saturday night in Lodz and I jumped right between them giving both guys my version of face-to-face,” laughed the four division champion, who still doesn’t know if he’ll be fighting WBC #4 ranked light heavyweight Dawid Kostecki or his countryman WBC #8 ranked and still undefeated Pawel Glazewski (17-0, 4 KOs) this Saturday.
The latest news is that Kostecki (39-1, 28 KOs), who was sentenced to 2.5 years in prison for running a prostitution ring, will know his fate possibly hours before Friday’s weigh-in in Lodz. Kostecki’s promoters are trying all legal avenues to give him a temporary, even three day, release to give him a chance to fight against his boxing idol.
