Middleweight contender Marco Antonio “Veneno” Rubio (54-6-1, 47 KOs) scored a seventh round KO over previously unbeaten Jorge ‘Demonio’ Cota (12-1, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the Coliseo Centenario in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico. Rubio methodically took apart Cota, finally finishing him at 1:49 of the seventh to claim the IBF International 160lb belt. It was Rubio’s first fight since his loss to WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in February.
Unbeaten jr welterweight Robert “Massa” Ortiz (25-0, 21 KOs) scored a fifth round KO over Abraham “Cholo” Gomez (22-4, 8 KOs) in the co-feature.
IBF female flyweight world champion Ava Knight beat Susana Vasquez by ten round unanimous decision (99-91, 96-92 and 98-92).
IBF female minimumweight world champion Katia Gutiérrez topped Susana Cruz unanimously over ten by scores of 99-91, 97-93 and 99-91.
