After having won his WBC middleweight eliminator against Dionisio Miranda, WBC #1 rated Marco Antonio ‘Veneno’ Rubio is now waiting to know who he’ll fight for the WBC interim championship. A second WBC middleweight eliminator is being fought between former champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Brian Vera, but in the super middleweight division, with the winner then to face Rubio at middleweight.

“I leave everything in the hands of my promoters,” said Rubio. They have always managed my career looking after my interests. We hope that the WBC appoints another challenger, because it’s no secret that Chavez Jr. can no longer make middleweight and there are many fighters with the sufficient merits to compete for the title.”

A date for the title fight between Rubio and the Chavez-Vera winner has been set for the third week of November and Rubio expects that deadline to be respected. He has already started his preparations.

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
