Mexican interim WBA world champions Hugo “Cuatito” Ruiz (bantamweight) and Arely “Machine Gun” Muciño (flyweight) defend their crowns on Saturday at the Estadio Arturo C. Nahl in La Paz in Baja California Sur at an event presented by Promociones del Pueblo and broadcast in Mexico by Televisa. Ruiz (30-1, 27 KOs) will defend Nicaraguan challenger Jean Sampson (12-1, 7 KOs) and Muciño (15-2,-1, 7 KOs) will an opponent to be announced (Hollie Dunaway and Jessica Nery have been mentioned). Also unbeaten lightweight prospect Abdiel “Mortero” Ramirez (14-0-1, 13 KOs) defends his WBC silver crown against Nicaraguan Rene “Chirizo” Gonzalez (29-5-1, 22 KOs).
