Sabaupan-Andriyanto clash 4/17

By Ray Wheatley–World of Boxing

Unbeaten Filipino lightweight Al Sabaupan (10-0, 7 KOs) will be in action on April 17 when he will clash with Indonesian lightweight champion Heri Andriyanto (14-9-1, 6 KOs) over twelve rounds at the Ynares Arena in Pasig City, Metro Manila, Philippines. Sabaupan scored his best win in October 2009 when he outworked former world title challenger Josafat Perez (12-2, 7 KOs) of Mexico over ten action packed rounds.

Perez captured the Mexican lightweight title in 2008 and went eight rounds in the WBA 130 pound title bout against Jorge Linares in June 2009.

Sabaupan’s manager Elmer Anuran said, “I am confident Al Sabaupan has the skills and power to reach the top in boxing. His win over Josafat Perez in 2009 stamped him as an outstanding prospect.”

Andriyanto lost a twelve round decision to world rated lightweight Prawett Singwancha but defeated Ramdan Munth and Michael Speed Siglarkaki in 2009.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
