It was confirmed that IBF super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado (25-1-1, 16 KOs) will defend his world crown against former WBA champion Jonathan Barros (34-2-1, 18 KOs) on August 18 in the Miguel Hidalgo Gym in Puebla, Mexico in an event organized by Promociones del Pueblo. “We are confirming this event and we know it will be a great night for Mexican boxing. We are making great events and good fights to achieve export of our events for the rest of the world,” said PP President Oswaldo Kuchle.
On the undercard, Mexican prospect Ricardo Alvarez (18-1-1, 12 KOs) will face the Nicaraguan Rene Gonzalez (30-5-1, 23 KOs) for the WBC silver lightweight title and Mexican Alejandro Sanabria (32-1-1, 24 KOs) will face Japan’s Seiichi Okada (16-2, 9 KOs).
