Salgado-Mendez prefight presser

By Gabriel F. Cordero

Mexican IBF super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado and his Domnican mandatory challenger Argenis Mendez are in Costa Mesa, California for their HBO Latino-televised world title rematch on Saturday at The Hangar. Here’s what they had to say during their Thursday press conference:

Juan Carlos Salgado: “We have done with the good training work and I’m ready to beat Mendez.”

Argenis Mendez: “I am at one-thousand percent. I want to clarify things this time. In our first fight in September 2011 in Zapopan, Jalisco, I suffered a hometown decision, but on this occasion there will be no controversy decision. I know I’m better and I will prove it in the ring with a big win.”

Also, that night former Olympian Oscar Molina will seek win his second professional win, while his twin brother Javier “Intocable” Molina wants to approach the top of the world rankings. Also, Juarez puncher Miguel “Mickey” Roman will face Miguel Munguia.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
