Bracero beats Salita in Battle of Brooklyn

Jr welterweight Gabriel Bracero (23-1, 4 KOs) dropped Dmitriy Salita (35-2-1, 18 KOs) in round eight before going on to win a lopsided 10-round decision at the Aviator Sports and Events Center in Brooklyn in a clash of local favorites. Judges scored the fight 100-89, 99-90 and 97-92, all for Bracero. Both men were cut and bloodied in a good, competitive fight that had the sold out crowd cheering throughout.

Heather Hardy (7-0, 2 KOs)dominated Laura Gomez (4-4, 0 KOs) in a female junior featherweight fight. The fight was stopped at the 1:44 mark of the second on the advice of the ringside physician as Gomez bled heavily from her nose.

Junior middleweight Charlie Ota (24-1-1, 16 KOs) pounded Mike Ruiz (17-8, 9 KOs) for eight rounds but had to settle for only a majority decision. Scores for the bout were 78-74 and 77-75 for Ota while one judge had the fight a draw, despite Ota seeming to dominate the encounter.

Joe Smith (13-1, 11 KOs) won a controversial six round unanimous decision against Lamont Williams (5-3-1, 2 KOs) in a light heavyweight bout. Smith seemed to dominate the fight but had to settle for a split decision. Judges scores read 58-56 (twice) for Smith and 58-56 for Williams.

Junior middleweights Patrick Day and Urmat Ryskeldiev fought to a majority six-round draw. A score of 59-55 for Day was overruled by two scores of 57-57. Day is now 5-0-1 with two stoppages. Ryskeldiev is 5-4 with four.

Junior welterweight Shemuel Pagan pounded Jesus Javier Cintron for four rounds but had to settle for a unanimous decision victory. All three judges scored the fight a shut-out at 40-36 for the still unbeaten Pagan (4-0, 1 KO). Cintron is now 2-4-2 with a single stoppage.

Junior middleweight Chris Galeano (1-1, 0 KOs) scored a four round unanimous decision over Jamil Gadsden (0-4, 0 KOs). Scores were 40-36, 40-36 and 39-37.

Super middleweight Junior Younan stopped Kenneth Schmitz (2-11-1, 1 KO) in the first round. Schmitz went down once before the fight was called off at the 1:40 mark. Younan was making his professional debut.

Lightweight Louis Cruz 6-0, 3 KOs) scored a second round TKO over Bryan Acaba (3-5, 2 KOs). Time was 1:24.
