Salita Fight Canceled!

By Matt Richardson

The junior welterweight fight between unbeaten contender Dmitriy Salita and Raul Munoz scheduled for this Thursday at the Aviator Arena in Brooklyn, New York, has been canceled according to Salita. Salita (29-0-1, 16 KO’s) will instead fight on May 16 in Nevada at the Terrible’s Primm Valley Resorts Buffalo Bill’s Casino. No opponent has been determined for the May encounter, although Salita said he is optimistic it could be a high-profile opponent. With a big fight potentially taking place on the May date, Salita and his team thought it would be wise not to jeopardize anything, hence the cancellation of Thursdays card. Salita, the number one contender in the WBA rankings, has been lobbying for a shot against WBA title-holder Andreas Kotelnik. Despite talk of a potential Kotelnik-Victor Ortiz fight this summer, Salita said that he was hopeful he would get the first shot. Stay tuned for details on the May opponent…
