WBA mandatory challenger for the world super lightweight championship Dimitry “Star of David” Salita will gamble to face Raul “El Toro” Munoz over 10 rounds at the Star of the Desert Arena at Buffalo Bills Casino Hotel in Primm, Nev. on May 24, it was announced by Square Ring Promotions Chief Executive Officer John S. Wirt. “We’re thrilled to be coming to Primm,” said Wirt. “You could say — the Star of David, meets the Star of the Desert,” making reference to Salita’s nickname as a follower of the orthodox Jewish faith.”
The 27 year old Salita, from Brooklyn, N.Y., was born in Odessa, Ukraine and is scheduled to meet the winner of the Andreas Kotelnik vs. Amir Kahn WBA world championship scheduled for London, England on June 27, 2009, as the “official challenger”.. He’s the current IBF international champion and has an impressive record of 29-0-1 (16 KOs).
The dangerous 33-year old Munoz from Topeka, Kan., has a record of 20-11-1 (16 KOs),.and is the former USA mid-American light middleweight champion. He’s fought top talent in names like Hector Camacho, Jr., Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr., Luis “Yory Boy” Campas and Mark Suarez.
The exciting undefeated Sharif “The Lion” Bogere from Las Vegas by way of Uganda, will be in a supporting featured 6 round lightweight bout. His unblemished record stands at 7-0 (4 KOs) and his opponent will be named shortly.
