WBC Cabofe featherweight belt holder Salvador Sanchez II (30-4-3, 18 KOs) scored an eighth round KO over Juan “Pinocchio” Beltran (27-20-3, 18 KOs) on Saturday night at the Hotel Presidente Intercontinental in Mexico City. The win sets up a July showdown with WBC featherweight world champion Jhonny Gonzalez, who was watching from ringside.
In other action, WBC female flyweight champion Mariana Juarez (34-5-3, 16 KOs) took a ten round split decision over Arely Muciño (15-2-1, 8 KOs). Scores were 96-91, 98-90 for Juarez, 95-94 for Muciño.
Also, in a bout for the WBC silver lightweight belt, unbeaten KO artist Abdiel Ramirez (14-0, 13 KOs) scored a tenth round TKO over Saul Carreon (19-5-1, 12 KOs).
