IBF super flyweight champion Juan Carlos “Zurdito” Sánchez (16-2-1, 8 KOs) successfully made the first defense of his title, taking a twelve round unanimous decision over former champion Juan Alberto “Topo” Rosas (36-7, 27 KOs) on Saturday night inside the Tecate Box Tour arena in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco, Mexico. Sanchez got off to a good start by dropping Rosas in round one. Rosas’ relentless pressure made Sanchez work every minute of every round, but “Zurdito” showed his class and was a clear-cut winner. Scores were 118-109, 118-109 and 120-107.
In a welterweight clash, Armando “Chato” Robles (20-1-1, 10 KOs) handed previously unbeaten Alejandro “Elegido” Barrera (19-1, 16 KOs) his first loss vis six round unanimous decision.
