Juan Carlos “Zurdito” Sanchez (13-1-1, 7 KOs) will expose his IBF super flyweight world championship for the first time next Saturday at the Tecate Box Tour in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco against experienced and former world champion Juan Alberto “Topo” Rosas (36-6, 27 KOs).
Sanchez surprised the boxing world last February in his hometown of Los Mochis, where by clear decision he dethroned Rodrigo “Gato” Guerrero who was considered a solid world champion. Juan Carlos has been training in Los Mochis under the supervision of his father Juan Carlos “Zurdo” Sanchez, trainer Edgardo Lucero and Tiburcio Garcia.
Rosas won the four fights he was in on 2011, most recently beating South African Zolani Tete in an elimination bout to become the mandatory challenger.
