Sanchez-Rosas in Puerto Vallarta

IBF super flyweight world champion Juan Carlos “Zurdito” Sanchez puts his title on the line against a very experienced fighter, who is also former world champion Alberto “Topo” Rosas in the TKT Box 2012 Tour in Puerto Vallarta, Jalisco. The battle between Sanchez (13-1-1, 7 KOs) and Rosas (36-6-0, 27 KOs) is the main event and will be televised by TV Azteca brought to you by Zanfer and Tecate.

Sanchez surprised the boxing world last February in his hometown of Los Mochis, where he won by decision to who was considered a solid world champion Rodrigo “Gato” Guerrero, and became world champion.

For the time being he has been training in Mochis under the watchful eye of his father, Juan Carlos “Zurdito” Sanchez, Tiburcio Garcia and trainer Edgar Lucero, practicing physical, mental and tactics to avoid making errors against a great fighter like “Topo” Rosas, who has been world champion.

The Nayarit born Juan Alberto Rosas won the four fights he was in during 2011. In his most recent action in Mazatlan, he won by decision against South African Zolani Tete in what was an elimination bout, becoming the official challenger against “Zurdito” who will be making his first defense.

“Topo” won the IBF super flyweight world championship in July 2010, knocking out South African Simphiwe Nongqayi. However, his first defense was against Cristian Mijares.

The result of the match between “Zurdito” and “Topo” is unknown because one is a young fighter still rising but technically strong, against a veteran of high strength, who had fought the best in the world and with serious aspirations of becoming champion again.

The Tecate Box Tour offers interactive activities with great figures of the boxing world, electronic games and hostesses, topped with a Zanfer match starring a world championship.
The audience at TKT Box Tour before arriving at the Arena will experience interactive boxing and a gym with instructors. Also fans will enjoy the performance of Tecate Girls in the interactive area in the same boxing evening.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
