At 21-years-old, Daniel “Galeno” Sandoval (30-2, 29 KOs) is considered one of the strongest young prospects in Mexican boxing, but now he’s facing his biggest test. On Saturday, Sandoval will face southpaw Miguel Callist (27-8-1, 18 KOs), a former world title challenger. The bout will take place at the “Deportivo de los Trabajadores del Metro” in Mexico City. Sandoval has achieved important successes in Mexico, with opponents like Jorge “Pantera” Silva, Michel Rosales, Enrique Colin and Gabriel Martinez, however, Callist has won nine of his last 12 fights since 2005 and faced the likes of Juan Polo Perez, Lakva Sim, Juan Mosquera, Marcos Maidana, Charlie Navarro, Devon Alexander, William Gonzalez and in his most recent fight, in July 2012, he lost by decision to Alberto Mosquera for the Fedelatin title.
On the same evening of Saturday Enrique “Duende” Bernache (20-4-0, 11 KOs) will return in his campaign towards a championship fight or to demand a rematch with one of his last two foes, Daniel “Bad Boy” Rosas and Raúl Hirales.[table “” not found /]
