Santa Cruz-Morel officially announced

As initially reported by Fightnews.com on August 21, it was officially announced today that unbeaten world champion Leo “Terremoto” Santa Cruz will defend his IBF bantamweight title against two-time former champion Eric “Little Hands of Steel” Morel on the September 15 “Knockout Kings” card in Las Vegas headlined by Canelo Alvarez against Josesito Lopez. The 24-year-old Santa Cruz (20-0-1, 11 KOs) joined the long line of boxing World Champions from Mexico on June 2, 2012, when he scored a near shutout 12 round unanimous decision win over Vusi Malinga to capture the IBF Bantamweight crown. The 36-year-old Morel (46-3, 23 KOs) is a former world champion at flyweight and bantamweight, who has wins in 11 of his last 12 fights, with his only loss coming via decision in a world title challenge against Abner Mares.
