Danny “The Bronx Bomber” Santiago (31-5, 27 KOs) has arrived in Perth Australia ahead of his clash with Three Time World Champion Danny “The Green Machine” Green (31-5-1, 19 KOs) at Challenge Stadium on Wednesday July 25. Santiago and his team went through a ten hour delay after his flight to Brisbane was diverted to Tahiti, and then New Zealand because of a medical emergency resulting in a missed connection to Perth. But the Bronx Bomber said the near 40 hour plane trip from Florida won’t affect him at and plans on making his fight against the Green Machine as short as possible at Challenge Stadium on Wednesday. Santiago said he had not seen too much of Green and leaves all that up to his trainer Luis Camacho who turns 75 the day after the fight next week and looks in great shape.

“We know how Green fights and we know he’s tough, he’s a good puncher, he’s a very good fighter, he is a real tough son of a gun,” Camacho said

Santiago said “What I’ve heard of Danny Green is that he’s a very strong minded individual and will be the most aggressive fighter I have ever faced and I expect nothing less than the best of what he has to offer.”

“I didn’t come to Australia for a vacation, I didn’t come because it was my dream to come here …which it was, I came here to beat Danny Green and go home with a big giant smile on my face.” Santiago said

Santiago put on a light training session with Camacho at “The Ring” in Northbridge for the media and told reporters about his gym back home “Central Florida Boxing”

Danny Green & Danny Santiago both have similar records, are the same age, are both coming off world title fight defeats in 2011 and have both been defeated by Antonio Tarver, however questions have been recently raised over Tarver because he recently tested positive to the Anabolic Steroid Drostanolone.

The fight on Wednesday will be the last time Danny Green fights in his hometown of Perth, Western Australia.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
