Sasso dominates Vazquez in rematch

Super featherweight Edgardo “Sasso” López (7-0-1, 4 KOs) won a unanimous decision over Orlando Vázquez (5-2-1, 1 KO) in an eight round headliner on Miguel Cotto’s and Hector Soto’s Boxeo Boricua: WAPA 2 Deportes premiere show. It was an intense and high accelerated fight since the first bell where “Sasso” landed the better punches all night long.

“I felt great we had a great fight. I said that I was going to win, and we won. Finally I got the rematch and we can close the chapter of Vazquez. Now I want to move forward and hopefully become a world champion,” Sasso said.

In other results, top super flyweight prospect and unbeaten fighter José “Chiquiro” Martinez (6-0, 4 KOs) annihilated Eduardo Melendez with an explosive sixth round KO.

Also unbeaten flyweight Angel Acosta scores a brutal KO over veteran Cristian López to win $500 bonus for “El Palo De La Noche de Palo Viejo.”

Heavyweight prospect and professional wrestling sensation Carlos “Chicano” Cotto won his second professional fight against Jesus J. González with a TKO in the first round.

In other results Starling Cordero and Alberto “El Explosivo” Machado remain unbeaten with great KO wins over Alexis Padin and Efrain Salgado. Also top lightweight prospect Jorge Maysonet had a TKO win over Pedro Salcedo in the second round. Prichard Colon turned pro with a first round TKO over Xavier Lasalle and Joel Collazo won a unanimous decision over Luis Hernández.

Miguel Cotto’s and Hector Soto’s Boxeo Boricua WAPA 2 Deportes will headline their next show on Saturday, April 27 at the Héctor Solá Bezares Coliseum in Caguas with the return of the WBC’s FECARBOX Super Flyweight Champion: Miguel “El Loco” Robles (12-1-2, 5KOs).
