Sauerland gets Danish license!

On behalf of Team Sauerland, General Manager Chris Meyer has successfully obtained a Danish promoter license from the Danish Professional Boxing Federation (DPBF). It will enable the Berlin-based promoters to stage events in Denmark. Mikkel Kessler´s mandatory defence against Gusmyl Perdomo in Herning on September 12 will kick off the cooperation. “We are looking forward to working with Team Sauerland,” DPBF chairman Jesper D. Jensen said. “Together we want to further increase the popularity of boxing in Denmark.”

Further to Mikkel Kessler, Team Sauerland promotes several talented Scandinavian fighters, such as WBA/WBC female welterweight champion Cecilia Braekhus, heavyweight hopeful Robert Helenius and former European champion Mads Larsen. “We have big plans for Denmark and Scandinavia,” Meyer said. “We want to deliver top boxing shows on a regular basis not just in Germany but also in Denmark and the whole of Scandinavia. The fight night in Herning will be a great start to our cooperation with the DPBF. We have successfully worked with Jesper D. Jensen and his officials on many occasions, like during the Kessler-Beyer fight and at several international shows. The DPBF is a top organisation with a great amount of expertise. We are pleased to be working with them even more closely from now on.”

There will be a press conference in Herning next week where further details about the show in Herning will be revealed.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
