Saunders looking to break into world class middleweight club

2008 Beijing Olympian and reigning British and Commonwealth titleholder Billy Joe Saunders (17-0, 10 KOs) is chomping at the bit to add his name to Britain’s list of world class middleweights, which also includes Martin Murray, Matt Macklin and Darren Barker. “Within 12 months I’ll be ready to beat all three,” claims Saunders. “In fact, within 12 months I believe I can be a world champion. But in boxing, you can’t afford to be impatient. I’m still only 23 and I’m still learning all the time.” Saunders’ next two scheduled opponents are both unbeaten, Gary ‘Spike’ O’Sullivan (16-0, 10 KOs) at Wembley on Saturday, then John Ryder (15-0, 9 KOs) at the Copper Box in September.
