The rematch between Mikey Schultz and Tineyi Maridzo for the WBO Africa super middleweight title will now take place on Thursday, July 8 at the Wembley Indoor Arena after it was postponed due to the challenger, Schultz contracting bronchitis. Schultz is out for revenge after Maridzo from Zimbabwe knocked him out in the first round when they met for the interim title in November.
Maridzo has subsequently been elevated to the full WBO Africa super middleweight champion.
The first round stoppage was the first loss on the 15 bout professional career of the South African.
The fighters came face to face at Nick Durandt’s Norwood gym and the grim faced Schultz said he was all out for revenge against Maridzo who was all smiles as he held two fingers behind his opponents head, indicating that the fight won’t go beyond the second round.
