Security thwarts Briggs’ pie plan for Klitschko

Former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs (53-6-1, 47 KOs) once again made his presence felt in Germany, attending the weigh-in today of unified heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and mandatory challenger Alex Leapai. The shirtless Briggs didn’t show up empty handed, bringing with him Germany’s most expensive and popular pie. No official word on what Briggs intentions were with the pie but security on hand weren’t taking any chances and stopped Briggs before he could get close enough to deliver the pie to Klitschko. Briggs has been a big hit all week in Germany and was swarmed by fans seeking autographs and “selfies” for which he gladly complied. The atmosphere around him was almost like it was Briggs who would be fighting Klitschko Saturday night.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
