Former world champion Giovani Segura (30-3-1, 26 KOs) scored a fourth round KO over previously unbeaten flyweight Jonathan “Bomba” Gonzalez (13-1, 11 KOs) on Saturday night at the El San Juan Resort and Casino in Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico. The much more experienced Segura floored Gonzalez in round two and twice in round four. Time was 2:25. It was the third time Segura has knocked out a Puerto Rican star, having previously twice KO’d Ivan Calderon.
In the co-feature, featherweight Jonathon Oquendo (23-3, 16 KOs) won by TKO at :55 seconds of the fourth round after he sent Miguel Tamayo (14-7-2, 12 KOs) to the canvas and the referee stopped the bout.
2008 Olympic gold medalist welterweight Felix Diaz (14-0, 8 KOs) won by KO at 1:37 of the first round after he sent Edgar Llanes (12-5, 7 KOs) to the canvas with a left hand and Llanes didn’t respond to the 10 count.
