Two-division world champion and considered widely by many to be one of the best pound for pound fighters in the world, Sergio ‘Maravilla’ Martinez (49-2-2, 28 KOs) of Argentina, but now residing in Oxnard, California, continues his preparations for his upcoming bout against undefeated WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (46-0-1, 32 KOs) which takes place on the eve of Mexican Independence Day, Saturday, September 15th live on HBO Pay-Per-View from the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fightnews caught up with Sergio Martinez and the rest of his team for their early morning roadwork and workout. “Everything is going great, we’re three weeks into training camp and Sergio is doing great,” said chief trainer Pablo Sarmiento. “Sergio’s 100% focused for Chavez Jr. Sparring is going great, we brought in very good fighters and we’re all working very hard like we do for every fight,” continued Sarmiento.
Following his morning workout, Martinez continues his boxing training under the watchful eye of Pablo Sarmiento at the Maravilla Box Boxing Gym in Oxnard, California.
In his last bout, middleweight king Sergio Martinez stopped top-rated middleweight contender Matthew ‘Mack the Knife’ Macklin (28-4, 19 KOs) in the eleventh round this past March which took place at the Madison Square Garden in New York, New York.
