Former super middleweight contender Les Sherrington (28-6, 17 KOs) will step into the ring against former IBF world champion Yory Boy Campas (100-16-1, 79 KOs) over twelve rounds in what could be his toughest fight to date, on Saturday with the vacant WBF world middleweight title and IBF Pan Pacific titles up for grabs at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia. Training under the expert guidance of Brendan Smith – Sherrington is in the best fighting shape of his career. The former IBF rated Sherrington has scored wins over former world championship challengers Rubin Williams of the USA, Shannan Taylor and Nader Hamdan of Australia.

Sherrington said “This is the biggest fight of my life. The prep has been absolutely perfect and it had to be because this is my biggest fight.”

“Brendon has taken me from how it was to how it’s going to be. I can’t wait until Saturday. Everyone is going to see a whole new Les Sherrington. I can’t wait to watch the replay.

“I looked at myself on the pads the other day, we videoed it, and I said ‘is that really me?’ I couldn’t believe it was me. I really surprised myself.”

Mexico’s Yory Boy Campas touched down in Australia today and is a former IBF world champion who has wins over Raul Marquez, Antihony Stephens, Pedro Ortega and Larry Barnes in world title bouts but lost to Fernando Vargas and Oscar de la Hoya. Campas defeated 2011 IBF middleweight contender Billy Lyell and dropped a decision to WBA middleweight challenger, Mathew Macklin. Campas is coming off a second round KO win of Mauro Lucero in March. On the undercard, former Manny Pacquiao sparring partner, Arnel Tinampay (17-14-1, 5 KOs)will clash with Australian based Irishman, Dennis Hogan (9-0-1, 4 KOs) over eight rounds of a middleweight contest. Also in action is Filipino super featherweight Jack Asis (25-18-4, 13 KOs) who will meet Ryusei Yoshida (22-3, 10 KOs) of Japan over eight rounds. Former WBA light heavyweight rated Joel Casey and classy featherweight Braydon Smith will also be in action. Promoter Joe Pennisi.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.
