Sherrington-Williams April 29

IBF #9, WBA #15 super middleweight Les Sherrington (25-5, 16 KOs) will clash with American journeyman Rubin Williams (29-8-1, 16 KOs) over twelve rounds at the Gold Coast Convention Centre in Broadbeach, Queensland, Australia on April 29. Sherrington defeated former world rated Shannan Taylor in five rounds in his best win of 2009. Williams lost his last ring outing to Mark Tucker via ten round decision in 2009.

Andre Ward stopped Williams in 2008. Williams captured the NBA 168 pound title in 2006 when he won a twelve round decision over Max Heyman. On the undercard former Australian heavyweight champion Bob Mirovic (29-21-2, 20 KOs) will punch it out over twelve rounds with Alex Leapai (17-3-3, 13 KOs).

Mirovic has battled several world rated heavyweights including former WBA champion Nikolay Valuev losing via eight round decision in 2003. Francois Botha and Shane Cameron defeated Bob in 2007. Leapai recently held a world rating with WBO. Samoan born Australian based Leapai is trained and managed by Noel Thornberry.
