Previously unbeaten ex-WBA minimum champ Ryo Miyazaki (20-1-3, 11 KOs), 108, engaged in a non-title bout after his latest relinquishment of the belt but suffered a shocking knockout defeat by WBA #6 minimum Thailander Fahlan Sakkreerin Jr. (23-2, 14 KOs), also 108, at 2:22 of the third round in a scheduled ten beneath the WBA light-fly title bout on Tuesday in Osaka, Japan.
His weight problem made Miyazaki renounce the WBA 105-pound belt and it was his first appearance since. It was ballyhooed as a tune-up bout prior to his next shot at any of world light-fly championships.
Miyazaki breathlessly made the contract weight of 108 pounds, but temporarily collapsed at the scale because of his dehydration. It was reported that Miyazaki didn’t have a good condition for this fight. (More to come)
