Shogun TKOs Machida

Brazilian Mauricio “Shogun” Rua captured the UFC light heavyweight title with a first round stoppage over formerly undefeated champion Lyoto “The Dragon” Machida at UFC 113 at the Bell Centre in Montreal Canada.

In the co-main event, Josh Koscheck cruised his way to a decision over Paul Daley, outclassing his foe by taking him to the ground.  Scores were 30-27 x 3.

In other results: Jeremy Stephens decisioned Sam Stout, winning with scores of 30-27 and 29-28; Matt Mitrione wore down Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson, stopping him with strikes at 4:24 of round two; and Alan Belcher won by submission over Patrick Cote at 3:25 of round two.
