Manny Siaca heart condition, 5 days in intensive care, Sherrington fight off

Former WBA super middleweight champion Manny Siaca has this morning withdrawn from his scheduled September 20 clash with current WBF middleweight champion and WBO world ranked Les “Lock N Load” Sherrington. Siaca, withdrew from the fight after developing a heart condition. “Manny has told me he has just spent five days in intensive care with a heart condition and has supplied a doctors report,” said Sherrington’s trainer and manager Brendon Smith. “Manny is a warrior and we would like to wish him and his family all the best in a full recovery.”

Les Sherrington also expressed his disappointment after hearing the news. “Obviously it is disappointing that this fight now won’t happen,” said Sherrington. “However at the end of the day it is a sport and a person’s health is the most important thing. Hopefully Manny can make a speedy and full recovery and we wish him well in that process”.

As for the September 20 card, it is said will proceed as scheduled. “We will start the search immediately for a new opponent for Les,” said Smith. “We will explore every possible avenue before even considering postponing or canceling.” The card scheduled for September 20 will not only feature Gold Coast’s own Les “Lock N Load” Sherrington as he continues his rise up the ranks, but a stack of local talent. Please stay tuned for further announcements.

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
