Silgado headed to Russia for Lebedev clash

Undefeated cruiserweight Santander “Cha Cha” Silgado (23-0, 18 KOs) takes on WBA cruiserweight champion Denis Lebedev (24-1, 18 KOs) on Monday night (December 17) in Russia. Team Silgado departed today for Moscow. Silgado is the first world title challenger from Havoc Boxing Promotions. “People think of New York City boxing promoters as Lou DiBella and Joe DeGuardia,” Silgado’s promoter Rob Diaz (Havoc Boxing Promotions CEO) said, “but there are also a lot of other boxing promoters here like Havoc Boxing. At this stage for Havoc Boxing to have a fighter in a world title fight is huge, especially when Santander wins to become a world champion, elevating Havoc Boxing into that elite level in New York City boxing.”

For 18 years, Fightnews.com® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
