Macbute Sinyabi makes the first defense of his South African junior featherweight title against Desmond Samuels from the Western Cape at the Nasrec Indoor Arena near Johannesburg on Sunday afternoon. The six-bout bill is presented by Patrick Molefe of Rainbow Promotions.
The 22-year-old Sinyabi 10-1; 10 from Mdantsane has never been in a distance fight with all his wins coming inside the distance and his sole loss being a first round knockout against Bongani Mahlangu in January 2007.
He won the vacant SA title when he knocked out Tshepo Mofokeng at 2 minutes 49 seconds into the first round in East London on March 2, 2008.
The title became vacant in June 2007 when Oscar Chauke relinquished the belt after winning the WBF junior featherweight belt.
Samuels who has a reported record of 4-0-1; 2 is a bit of an unknown quantity having made his professional debut in August 2006 with a third stoppage win over Thembinkosi Dike.
In his most recent fight in August last year he fought to a six round draw against former SA junior featherweight champion Edward Mpofu.
The champion must be favoured to win inside the distance.
