Xoilise Macbute Sinyabi (12-1, 12 KOs) from Mdantsane makes the third defense of his South African junior featherweight title against Tendani Munyai (9-4-2, 6 KOs) of Limpopo at the Orient Theatre in East London on Friday night.
The 22-year-old Sinyabi made his pro debut in East London on June 2006 with a first round stoppage win over Ntobneko Duma and then also won his next five fights on first round stoppages before being knocked out in the first round by Bongani Mahlangu on January 19, 2007 in Carletonville.
After this setback he continued on his knockout route scoring inside the distance wins against Mzimkhulu Funde, Vuyani Phulo and Sakhumzi Bogwana before winning the vacant South African junior featherweight title in March 2008 when he stopped Tshepo Mofokeng in 2 minute 47 seconds of the first round.
In 2009 he has made successful defences against Desmond Samuels (tko 1), and Luyanda Mruwali (tko 10).
Munyai made his pro debut in June 2006 and is ranked a number five in the most recent Boxing SA rankings.
In 2008 he has scored wins over Shadrack Makama (tko 3), Klaas Mobyane (pts 6) and Vuyolwethu Sirayi (tko 1).
His most recent fight on May 22 against Cleutus Mbhele was declared a technical draw in the first round due to a cut.
When comparing the records of the two fighters’ one must favour the big hitting champion to retain his title inside the distance.
There are five fights on the undercard of this Mamali Productions bill.
