Accompanied by his staff with excellent training and 10 weeks fulfilled between Nogales and Cajeme, Orlando “Siri” Salido (39-11-2, 27 KOs) will travel today starting at 6 am from his native Obregon, Mexico to New York City where next Saturday he will risk his WBO featherweight world championship against the most dangerous challenger possible: Miguel Angel “Mikey” Garcia (30-0, 26 KOs) at the legendary Madison Square Garden. “We are well prepared, physically and mentally to win this fight, we know we’re going against a young, strong and undefeated fighter, but we have experience and confidence in our favor, we will push ‘Mikey’ and bring the world championship to Mexico,” said Salido. “We have Garcia well studied, we know his strengths and weaknesses and we will win round by round, we have the preparation and strategy to provide a great fight and we will win.” Salido will make the trip to New York on Monday, with his team consisting of Santos Moreno, “Chino” Barron and “Guero” Osuna.

    Help Support®

For 18 years,® has delivered daily boxing news to fight fans around the globe. From the beginning, we have always kept Fightnews free to our readers and relied on advertiser support. Anyway, the Miami Herald, The Guardian, and Wikipedia among others have been using the “crowdfunding” revenue model, so we thought we’d test it too.

Please consider helping out. You’re not obligated to, but even a $1 pledge would really help. And if we reach our goal, we plan to upgrade our server and maybe even nuke the ads altogether. Wouldn’t that be nice?
