WBA # 6 super featherweight Somsak Sithchatchawal (60-3-3, 44 KOs) barely kept his PABA interim 130lb title as he drew against PABA # 14 Dante Paulino (reportedly 14-8-2, 10 KOs) on Friday at Taksin University in Songkhla, Thailand. Filipino Paulino surprised the Thai crowd as he excitingly battled with the former WBA 122lb champion in a close affair bout. It seemed that the Filipino dropped the local fighter twice, in round two and round five, but the referee considered as Sithchatchawal’s slips because of the wet canvas. Scored: 105-104, 104-105 and 105-105. After the bout, promoter Kokiet Panichyarom said he will hold the rematch of Sithchatchawal-Paulino soon, probably next January.
